Community Ecology of Northern Australian ants

Untitled photo

This project focuses on better understanding how fire and rainfall affect the ant communities of Northern Australia. By quantifying patterns in ant abundance and diversity across fire and rainfall gradients, we hope to provide recommendations for better conservation and fire management in the Northern Territory.

Biodiversity survey of the ants of Coloane Island, Macao (China).

This project focuses on assessing the ant biodiversity of Coloane Island in Macau SAR, China. The main goals are to (1) produce an updated species list for Macanese ants, (2) track the arrival/spread of exotic species, and (3) demonstrate the value of green spaces within cities for the conservation of native species.

Biogeography of morphological traits in North American ants

Untitled photo

The main objective of this project is to better understand what regulates ant species distribution in North America. Specifically, I aim to quantify how the morphology of multiple ant species vary along their respective distribution and identify what are the key factors behind these variations. Ultimately, I am interested in identifying morphological traits that vary systematically along broad scale-gradients and investigate the ecological mechanisms regulating the size and shape of ants.
